Project Description
As part of the celebrations for AVEIRO PORTUGUESE CAPITAL OF CULTURE 2024, we continue to repay the trust placed in us by the local authority by being chosen for the graphic and editorial design of the exhibition “The Tile in Portugal: The future of the past”. This exhibition is being shown in two different sections:
Aveiro – Old Captaincy Gallery. Open until 22 September.
Ovar – Ovar Art Centre. Open until 22 September.
Patrícia Sarrico was the curator.
In this collaborative project, we were responsible for creating the poster, designing all the publicity and communication materials, including those for social networks, producing the room sheet and creating the information panels, in the form of Routes, which allow visitors to discover the rich tile heritage that also defines the urban landscape of the city of Aveiro.
We were also responsible for the layout, graphic design, image processing and printing of the exhibition catalogue.
Aveiro stands out for its use of azulejo tiles, with examples in the city dating back to the 16th century. Local tile production began in the 19th century with the Fonte Nova factory. Others followed, such as the Fábrica dos Santos Mártires in 1905 (from 1922 onwards known as Aleluia). Azulejos have made a significant mark on Aveiro, moulding the urban environment by covering façades, figurative panels, toponymic plaques and even large identifying panels. Even today, the artistic production “Azulejaria de Aveiro” continues to be an internationally recognised brand.
This exhibition had the support and collaboration of the National Tile Museum.
