Sometimes creativity feels like a lazy muscle: it’s there, but it doesn’t want to move. The good news? With the right stimuli, even the sleepiest idea can be transformed into an explosion of genius. Here are a few tricks to wake up your brain, challenge it to think differently and, who knows, create that idea that will leave everyone thinking: ‘How come nobody thought of this before?’. The PARETO Principle

Around 80 per cent of the results usually come from 20 per cent of the effort. Identify what really matters. Concentrate on the factors that generate the most impact and focus on what brings significant results with less effort, without wasting energy.

Back to basics

Question everything and eliminate the superfluous. Define what is essential in the problem or solution and imagine what it would be like to start from scratch, without preconceptions or limitations.

Find social validation

The strength of an idea often lies in how others perceive it. Promote testimonials, share feedback and create a sense of buy-in to generate interest and trust.

Create critical mass

Imagine your idea as a chain reaction that sustains itself. What can you do to make it go viral and spread on its own? Make it so striking or useful that it becomes its own amplifier.

Scarcity

People value what is rare. Make your idea unique or necessary, creating the feeling that it’s unmissable or indispensable.

Take a look at the third story

Put yourself in the position of someone who is impartial. We are often blinded by our own ideas or the context in which we work. Ask yourself: what would someone with no connection to the problem think?

Think of the second impact

Analyse the indirect consequences. How might the problem or solution affect other areas? Consider time, variables or chain reactions for a more complete and creative vision.
